Tim Barnsley is a cameraman from Sydney, Australia, whose artistic energy can be seen throughout his work. Whether it be lighting large scale drama productions or capturing intimate documentaries, Tim offers passion and skill to all of his artistic endeavors.
Growing up in inner city Sydney, Tim’s early adult-hood was spent photographing the dark, gothic geography of the city, a hobby that has influenced his work today.Tim started out as a 2nd Camera Assistant, loading film on commercials, tv drama and feature films, and started his own shooting career in 2007.
n 2008 he undertook a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts, to build a theoretical framework for his film-making. This included a semester at Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design in Vancouver Canada.
In 2011 Tim was accepted into the Graduate Diploma of Cinematography at the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS). It was there that he shot acclaimed short film INFERNO, which went on to screen at Camerimage in Poland and St Tropez in France, and won him both state and national Gold Australian Cinematographers Society Awards.
Since graduating, Tim has worked extensively in Australia and across the Pacific. In 2013 he shot the award winning music video for girl group She Rex, a fusion of mysterious lighting and seductive moving camera that was bestowed with a Golden Tripod at the 2014 Australian Cinematographers Society awards. Also in 2013, he traveled to Port-Vila Vanuatu to shoot the locally produced TV Drama series Love Patrol, a 10 episode series, which is part aid program, and screens nationally on NITV.
