Following a brief career in print advertising, Tim Barnsley began shooting in 2008.
He is an Australian based Cinematographer who has studied in Sydney with AFTRS earning a Graduate Diploma of Cinematography and in Canada with the Emily Carr Insititute.
Tim started out as a 2nd Camera Assistant, loading film on TV Commercials and TV Drama. He started shooting in 2008 working his way through short films and TV commercials.
In 2011 while at AFTRS, Tim shot the acclaimed short INFERNO which screened at Cameraimage in Poland, Cannés & St Tropez France and won him a Gold ACS Award.
While in between shoots he has taken opportunities to teach film making. He has taught Camera Techniques in Florence, Italy with the New York Film Academy and AFTRS in Sydney.
Tim has worked in Sydney in Commercials, Vancouver Canada in Art Film, Florence Italy shooting Documentaries, and Los Angeles USA for the A&E Network.
His passion for Cinematography lies in dramatic narratives, stories in which character stakes are high.

National ACS Awards

Last weekend we attended the National ACS awards at Old Parliament House in Canberra. It was a great weeekend of events, we saw a 35mm print of Predator with Q&A with Don McAlpine and it was topped off with a win for Best National Student Cinematographer. Thank you to the ACS for a great weekend and the Panavision Team for having us at their table.

I'm excited to announce that INFERNO is playing as part of the Student Etudes Competition at Plus CameraImage International Cinematography Film Festival. I will be attending the competition, and hoping to meet with some of my favorite cinematographers and attend some masterclasses.
